Tree Planting

On or about 020700 February 2012, the same participants of the 5K fun run arriving at the Alegria Hills, Upper Macasandig, Cagayan De Oro City regrouped for cooling down exercises. This activity was directly followed by a kick-off ceremony for the tree planting project with the theme “Pulis Makakalikasan: Sampung Milyon Puno, Pamana sa Kinabukasan” in the above-mentioned area. The brief program was started by PCINSP ABDUL RACMAN BACARAMAN, Deputy Regional Chaplain, who invoked the grace of God. The same was followed by the opening remarks of RD, PRO 10, PCSUPT JUFEL C ADRIATICO, CEO VI in which he emphasized to each participant the need to plant trees for the sake of future generations and their posterity as well. He further announced the commitment of PRO 10 to plant one million trees in Northern Mindanao, as an unequivocal support to the program of the Chief, PNP to plant 10 million trees nationwide.

 

The Chief, PNP in his message cited the importance of the activity and its significance to the area of PRO 10 particularly in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan which were recently devastated by enormous flashfloods that resulted in the loss of more than 3,000 lives and destruction of more than two billion worth of personal properties and infrastructures brought about by Tropical Storm Sendong. He declared the said activity as the official launching of the program of the whole PNP to plant 10 million trees across the country for a one year period from February 2012 to February 2013 which he labeled as “Pulis Makakalikasan: Sampung Milyon Puno, Pamanasa Kinabukasan.” This colossal project which will greatly benefit and impact on the lives of present and future generations took off with some 6,000 tree seedlings of different species planted along the Camamanan-Indahug Diversion Road, Brgy Upper Macasandig of Cagayan De Oro City by more than 1,500 PNP and civilian runners-supporters combined headed by PDG NICANOR A BARTOLOME AND PCSUPT JUFEL C ADRIATICO.
